Athletics Summer Camps

Runners

Team GB inspired the nation in 2012 in all events and athletics was no exception. If your child is an aspiring Mo Farah or Jessica Ennis, then an athletics training camp for kids might just be the place they would love to be during their summer holidays or half term.

There are kids camps that specialise in athletics and just about every discipline within the sport. Whether your child is a complete beginner or already a keen athlete, there is a place for all levels of experience and ability. A week or even a day at an athletics camp could see them running faster or jumping higher than ever before.

Residential or day camps?

Many of the athletics camps are non-residential and are attended on a daily basis, but there are a few that do offer residential places. You can find general introductory camps that are run by qualified sports coaches; they will give your child the chance to try out lots of different types of events within athletics. The emphasis here is all about having fun and just finding out what your child enjoys within the sport.

Specialist Athletics camps

At the other end of the spectrum there are more specialised athletics camps like the Performance Running Summer Camp which is run by professional coaches and set up in conjunction with top British athletes. A place like this will give your child the chance to train and develop within their favourite event. A week with a specialist coach or athlete can improve a personal best, help build confidence or simply be a whole lot of fun for a child that loves athletics.

Many of the athletics camps not only concentrate on the sport itself, but also offer other fun activities that give kids an insight into the world of being a professional athlete. These include visits from sporting role models and famous athletes, pretend TV interviews and specialist talks or lectures. Some even include optional educational aspects to the courses such as language learning.

Whether your child wants to run or jump in a favourite event or just try out as many different sports as possible in a short time, an athletics camp could be just the ticket to keeping them active and occupied.
