Day camps are non-residential full or half day programmes where you take your kids to a local facility (normally) and drop them off in the morning then collect them in the evening. They will take part in a varied range of sporting and creative activities throughout the morning or day. Some providers will include a pick-up and drop off service, more common in the specialist areas.
Residential camps are for kids and teens from around 7 years upwards. Days usually involve multi activity programmes or a specialised activity split into 6 sessions and the camp will last 7 ??14 days. Camps are staffed by care monitors (counsellors in the USA), specialist instructors and support / management staff. These camps take place during school holidays.
Specialist training and sports centres such as outdoor adventure centres or drama schools organise both day and residential camps for kids and teens with a particular interest. They can often gain national accreditation whilst on these courses which should be run by specialist instructors and coaches. Common programmes are those delivering football, swimming, cricket and athletics training.
